The Dreamcatcher

I see the insecurities that stream in your eyes
As your demons sing to you horrifying lullabies.
I hear the lament of your silent cries
When your glorious dream shrinks & dies.

Behind your masquerade of fake smiles, you’ve often bled
While countless dreams crumbled inside your head.
In your weary veins as depression rapidly spread
A fragment of your soul became numb & dead.

Yet when all your dreams were brutally broken
When your nightmares bloomed & the time seemed frozen.
About your pain to none you’ve ever spoken
Regarding your scars, you gave no token.

Perhaps about your sufferings, none would ever have a clue
Perhaps no mortal can comprehend what you’ve been through.
Though life may have battered your spirit black & blue
I give you a dreamcatcher because I care for you.

When all hope may seem to depart
When everything may appear to fall apart,
The dreamcatcher would be your guardian angel in the dark
& it’ll quell the anxiety of your restless heart.

Destiny may conspire diabolical schemes
Things may unfold in unimaginable extremes.
But as long as the moon in the night sky, beams
The dreamcatcher shall protect all your dreams.

The journey of life may seem hostile
But together we’ll conquer every menacing mile.
Perhaps in me, you’ll see a dreamcatcher for a while
For like a dreamcatcher, I’ll always protect your smile.

Apart from the lovely individuals that are there in the collage, this poem is also dedicated to Ameet, Anna, Katherine, Fatimah, Shannie, Rulla, Sana, Jane, Ayesha, Malavika, Kritika, Riya & all my other loving followers.

Note: Last night I was on a call with a dear friend of mine, she asked me what were my resolutions for the new year & I replied, “I’ll try to live up to the expectations of others & protect the dreams of my loved ones.” Sometimes I fail to express how I truly value some people in my life so this poem is an attempt to convey my love & respect for the various people around me. In this poem, the dreamcatcher is a symbol of my heart for my loved ones. With my, every heartbeat I sincerely hope that I’m always capable of protecting your happiness & dreams. Happy new year! May this year you & your family attain everything that you’ve ever aspired for. ❀

Selflessly Yours
