I realize, the hidden sadness in your eyes
I hear, your soul’s lament, as it cries.
Alone at night, under the scattered stars
I see, you trying to hide your scars.

Your scars, remind of your past
You fear that, they’ll forever last.
Tears, stream down from your face
You cry bitterly, thinking you’re a disgrace.

The blood in your veins, becomes cold
Your helpless heart, changes into a stone.
You fight your depression, on your own
I know, what’s it like to cry alone.

I empathize, with your immeasurable pain
But don’t give up, things will change.
From the core of my soul, to you I say
Even with scars, you’re beautiful in your own way.

Your existence, is bigger than your scars
In dark, you too, shall shine like the stars.
Your scars, can’t corrupt your inner grace
So replace your tears, with a smile, on your face.

None has ever walked in your shoes
So don’t care, about their judgemental views.
Value yourself, to yourself, you remain true
Don’t do things, you know that, you shouldn’t do.

Let me, kiss your scarred hand
Let me, show you I understand.
From the core of my soul, to you I say
Even with scars, you’re beautiful in your own way.

Note: If a person is physically injured some people do care about that person but sometimes when a person is going through psychological problems like depression, anxiety, etc almost everyone gets indifferent towards the agony of that person. To be honest I myself was on the verge of harming myself few years ago, so I know how overwhelming the emotional turmoil can be sometimes. This poem is for anyone who has ever faced any kind of sadness or depression in their lives. It’s easy to judge & mock at anyone’s misery but it takes real skill to take out time to heal each other. I request my readers to be compassionate towards people who are going through any kind of psychological problem. Don’t be disgusted at the sight of their scars, instead see them as spaces through which you can reach out to their souls with your love.

Twin flame

Twin Flame

None knew, his traumatic troubles
None understood his emotional struggles.
For he was a cold lone heart
A pale ignored loner, from the start.

She was an angel from the sky
Her beauty was a treat for every eye.
She glided like a beautiful butterfly
From her blazing aura, surroundings got purified.

It was a fairytale night
The angel’s beauty was in its prime.
Angel dazzled, in the loner’s eye
Lost in the moment, he was mesmerized.

Violins played, cupids playfully conspired
Seeing her, his heart conceived love’s fire.
To melt in her soul, was his desire
To be her’s is what he aspired.

The loner never had love, he was deprived
So he was hesitant & awkwardly shy.
Angel sensed purity, in loner’s teary eyes
Warmly, she hugged him, the loner smiled.

Their bond wasn’t a one-night affair
Their feelings never died in thin air.
For each other’s smile, they mutually cared
Their bond was majestically rare.

Their flame of love remained the same
Passion still runs wild in their veins.
Their hearts still breathe, each other’s name
For they are, each other’s twin flame.

Note:- Human connections are quite blissful in their own respect, one such blissful connection is that of soulmates. Soulmates are those blessed people who may not be perfect for each other, yet their souls unite into one by understanding each other’s imperfections perfectly. So this poem tries to glorify true love by highlighting the purity of love that flows between two soulmates.

Your Broken Dream

I know, you once had a dream
In ecstasy, you had crafted your galaxy.
Although to others, it was imaginary
Yet to you, it was more than reality.

But, victim of wicked twist of fate
Your dream, fell prey to destiny’s hate.
And as your haters, jumped to celebrate
You were left… broken and defaced.

Through all the blood, sweat & tears
You worked towards your dream for years.
But from you, when it disappeared
In agony you burnt, you seared.

I feel the pain, of your broken dream
I sense the trauma, that you breathe.
I see your tears, while your soul bleeds
But believe me, with time you’ll heal.

From my soul to you, I say
Even dark nights change into glorious days.
So regardless of what, the situation may be
Don’t abandon, your broken dream.

Never, let your hopes be crucified
Never break down, in tears to cry.
Never give up, on your inner drive
Never quit on your dream, and say goodbye.

Sometimes in life, dreams do break
Sometimes they reincarnate, into something great.
For the rebirth of your dream, to take place
Fortitude in your life, you must formulate.
So take a stand, for your broken dream
Push your limits to new extremes.
Fight all naysayers, and their evil schemes
Until you change, your dreams into reality.

Note: Our glittering eyes tend carry our glorious desires that take the form of our dreams. A dream gives a purpose to our existence, that’s why when dreams break, deep down we tend to feel as if, a fragment of our existence broke as well. This poem is for those all wounded dreamers like me, who had to compromise on their dreams due to the various situations in their lives. Hope this poem makes them realize that come hell or high waters, one should never compromise on their dream & should constantly work towards fulfilling it.

Dear Neighbor

Dear Neighbor,

I hear your creepy sounds at night
The ones that sound like, pigs at fight.
As the notes of those creepy sounds, rise
I get a feeling, that something’s not right.

With your hands, stuffed in your pocket
You walk & talk, like a drunk hobbit.
No sane mortal, would go near your closet
As your lifestyle, none would like to audit.

In creepiness, you are the undisputed leader
You are a messed up creature.
But, exhibiting human diversity, as a procedure
In your own respect, you’re a teacher.

We both may never, see eye to eye
At your house, I may never drop-by.
We both may never, shake hands
But your individuality, I respect & understand.

So I listen to your operatic voice
As your vocal chords, generate that creepy noise.
I wish living in peace, was a choice
Yet your creepy individuality, I somewhat rejoice.

Note:- This poem is dedicated to my creepy neighbor who never fails to amaze me with the extent of his creepiness lol , but through the medium of this poem I also want to highlight the fact that in a society different individuals exist & if we dislike certain individuals even then we must respect their individuality & give them space rather than treating them with hate or judgemental hostility.

When you push through pain
While agony burns your veins.
When people mock, giving you names
Still your dedication remains the same.

When you loose track of time
& work from sunset to sunrise.
When in darkness, there’s no light
Yet your inner fire burns bright.

When you dare to dream
Without fantasies affecting work.
When you bravely lead
Without ego driving you berserk.

When others, say nasty things about you
Twisting words, to make false sound true.
When amidst that naysayers’ hate
A great legacy you intend to create.

When even in glory, you know
How in gratitude to bow.
When in life you grow
Yet, relate to others’ pain, somehow.

Then, yours is the earth
& everything under the sun.
Your soul will engage in rebirth
As you’ll be a man of values, my son.

Note: This poem tries to emphasize the importance of moral & ethical values that formulate a person’s existence, sometimes it’s not about how things are or in what  sphere of life you are in, but what matters is how ethically you deal with the situation.

“Then, yours is the earth
& everything under the sun.
Your soul will engage in rebirth
As you’ll be a man of values, my son.”

A Poet’s Words

The poet’s words, are a fragment of his soul
Embodiment of emotions, that were left untold.
So upon his words, if your eyes scroll
A lot about him, you can explore.

A poet plays with his rhymes
He weaves words in a way, that’s divine.
His words, his thoughts, glitter & shine
Through his creativity, he hopes to spread smiles.

As he constructs, his fantasy world
Reality to him, sometimes gets blurred.
His words, he creatively twists & turns
Various emotions, through his words, he churns.

With his words, some readers might relate
His words, some readers might find great.
His words, may fall prey, to readers’ hate
Nonetheless, creating rhymes, the creative fool celebrates.

For his words, aren’t governed by laws
His words, don’t seek decorated applause.
His words, just aim to exhibit emotions as art
His words, just seek a place in readers’ hearts.

Note: For a poet his/her words formulate a platform of expressing their feelings & those words work instrumentally in establishing a heart to heart bond between the poet & the readers. I personally believe that all my poetry & words belong to my readers as much as they belong to me, so this poem highlights the importance of that entity (words) that enabled me to connect with all my lovely readers.

The Man

I knew a man, who always took a stand
For others, he always extended his helping hand.
Others’ sorrow he used to understand
He was a brave dependable man.

There were times, when things weren’t right
So on his happiness, the man compromised.
For others, he secretly sacrificed with a smile
For others, smiling he walked a million miles.

There were times, when he was financially weak
The resilient soul, still didn’t bow to greed.
One in a billion, his willpower was unique
He had values, his determination was mystique.

Like a warrior the man sacrificed selflessly
He never sidelined, any of his responsibility
Though fate tested him mercilessly
To others, he still provided a sense of security.

The man’s presence had a charismatic power
Yet he was humble & gentle like a flower.
Harbinger of hope, he motivated others
Like an artist, he sprinkled life’s joyful colors.

Although today, the man isn’t present physically
Although today, the man is just a memory….
The man, has still created an incorruptible legacy
& he still lives & breathes within me.

Note: Happy Birthday Dad, even though you aren’t physically there with me but I still feel that a part of you still lives within me. This poem is dedicated to my dad, who has constantly motivated me to evolve as a stronger individual in life. I just hope that I am capable of carrying forward his legacy & possess the strong moral & ethical values that my dad stood for.

Someone (Collaborated with Ana)

On a night, under the scattered stars
Mercilessly, you gave me scars.
You ripped my soul apart
As from my life, you decided to depart.

I cried helplessly, my soul screamed
You faded, like an unfulfilled dream.
Your memory, still haunts me in my sleep
But even without you, I know I’m complete.

Hopes in my heart, still echo & beat
For someone, who’ll be willing to heal me.
Someone, who’ll admire my inner beauty
Someone, who’ll breathe joy within me.

Someone, who’ll kiss my brutal scars
Someone, who’ll value my heart.
Someone, who’ll be my light in the dark
Someone, who’ll  be my shinning star.

Someone,  who’ll have a heart of gold
Someone, my hand who’ll always hold.
Someone, who’ll comfort my aching soul
Someone, who’ll love me even when I’m old.

You left me broken, but I won’t whine
Someone, would turn my cry into a smile.
That day my heart will dance, I will shine
With someone, whom I would call mine.

‘Someone, who’ll comfort my aching soul’

Note: You don’t need another human being to make your life complete, but let’s be honest. Having your wounds kissed by someone who doesn’t see them as disasters in your soul but sees them as space through which they can put their love into your being, is the most calming thing in this world. In this poem I collaborated with Ana who laid the foundation for this poem she’s a flawless writer do visit her blog, her creativity is amazing I’m sure you’ll like her writings.

My Hunger

I opened my empty fridge to see
If there was anything, for my belly.
But there wasn’t, even a grain to eat
So in sadness, I had to retreat.

In despair, I laid on my bed
With helplessness, dribbling in my head.
In darkness, as my sorrow spread
I knew, I had to take a bold step.

Shedding my helplessness, was what I yearned
Respect I knew, I had to earn.
In hunger, as my stomach, continued to burn
Hard way, life’s lessons I began to learn.

My helpless hunger, made me realize
The value of hard-work, in my life.
I took that moment, in my stride
My hunger, became a symbol of my life.

My hunger, now pushes me to my extremes
In agony, sometimes my soul bleeds.
But this hunger, is what defines me
My hunger, is the embodiment of my legacy.

My hunger, drives me to be the best
To seek perfection, I sometimes, get obsessed.
Failure, my hunger, refuses to digest
As it makes me, a cut above the rest.

My hunger, is the driving force of my life
It may consume me, from inside.
But someday this hunger, will make me smile
That day in life, I wouldn’t have to compromise.

Note: There was a phase in my life when one night I opened my fridge & there was nothing for me to eat. I won’t ever forget that night as due to the deprivation of basic needs, a feeling of helplessness had conquered me . I translated the hunger of that night, into a hunger of being capable of supporting my family financially, so that me & my family never have to compromise on any basic needs in life. So this poem tries to highlight the fact that one should have a hunger, a driving force that gives a purpose to their existence.

You: A Painful Illusion (Collaborated with Ana)

You are:

All the things, I can’t have.
All the dreams, I can’t save.
All the troubles, I can’t halve.
All the burdens, under which I cave.

All the horizons, I can never meet.
All the issues, I can’t beat.
All the grudges, I can’t unseat.
All the anger, my mind continues to heat.

All my jewels that, on me can’t shine
All my happiness, that can’t be my smile.
All my melodies, I can’t rhyme
All my love, I can’t call mine.

I can have everything, but why can’t
Everything be you ?
Why can’t I get what I feel is due ?
You had to walk out of my life, right on cue…
Just when I wanted, to start a new
Just when I surrendered, my soul to you…

Turning your back, you’ve left me now
But someday, your ego will bow.
Don’t expect me then, to hold your hand
Don’t  expect me then, to say ‘I understand’.

I bid you goodbye, I bid you farewell
As I withdraw from your satanic spell.
I’ll find someone on whom, I can depend
My broken heart, that special someone will mend.

Note: It hurts when you love someone from the core of your being, just to end up being emotionally victimized by them. It’s a traumatic experience when someone plays with your emotions by projecting a false illusion of love. This poem aims to describe about that same traumatic experience & also tries to emphasize the fact that if someone doesn’t break your heart then you probably wouldn’t understand the value of that special someone who is willing to unconditionally mend your broken heart. I was able to make this poem thanks to my dear friend Ana who collaborated with me on this poem, she is a very talented writer do visit her blog >

Tonight I Can Cry

Within me, I have held my tears
Pretending a fake smile, for years.
But, under the starlight sky
In peace, tonight I can cry.

Carrying, the weight of the world on my shoulder
Even in pain , I didn’t lose my composure
But tonight, tears flow from my eye
In peace, tonight I can cry.

I wipe everyone’s tears
Within me I carry their fears.
But, none witnesses my helplessness, nothing they hear
For I cry alone, when none is near.

I unleash the sorrow, that I had caged
Sky cries with me, it begins to rain.
The raindrops, hide my tears of pain
But scars of sadness still remain, the same.

Shedding tears alone, I realize
People depend on me, I’m their pride.
For their smiles, I can’t afford to cry
So in tonight’s darkness, my tears I hide.

The dawn breaks, sun begins to shine
I wear the crown of thorns, that’s mine.
Wiping tears, for my loved ones, I rise
For my tears, aren’t meant for others’ eyes.

Note: There are times when a person is expected to have a calm head while the rest are loosing theirs. But sometimes, the level of expectations & the weight of responsibilities  is so overwhelming that because of the fact that people look up to that person, the respective person is not in a position to cry even if he/she wants to. So this poem tries to capture the emotional turmoil that some dependable people have to deal with & the self-realization on their part to push through the pain without shedding tears, for their actions would have an impact on the lives of people who look up to him/her.

If you…

With my love, I’ll worship you
For your smile, anything I’ll do.
But if you forget me…
I’ll forget you too.

Like the limitless ocean, my love would be
I’ll keep my heart at your feet.
But stepping over it, if you leave…
I’ll also leave, even if my heart bleeds.

For you, I’ll open my heart’s door
You, I’ll unconditionally adore.
But if my existence, you ignore…
Then from you, I’ll fade away for sure.

But if your heart, will carry my love’s fire
My heart too, shall reignite with desire.
The fragrance of your affection, I shall breathe
My angel, we’d be inseparable for eternity.

My precious, if you let our souls unite
I know, our bond will forever shine.
Our love, shall be like some wine
& it’s taste, will get better with time.

Note: I personally feel that my heart is like a mirror that projects back the emotions & love that it receives from people around me. I personally hate being neglected by the people I love but if they decide to walk out on me, I would erase their existence from my life too. For one-sided bonds are symbols of half love, half life. Be it any bond, the emotions of love & understanding should mutually flow from both sides for the bond to survive the various twists & turns of life.

The Journey

Stepping out, of my home
Drawing away, from my comfort zone.
Out in the night, that’s brutally cold
I embark on my  journey, alone.

Venturing in a territory, of the unknown
With fear seeping, in my bones.
Even my shadow deserts, I’m on my own
I continue to walk, alone.

I don’t know, where this path would lead.
I don’t know, if I’ll end up broken & weak.
I don’t know, if my soul would bleed.
But I know, nothing will stop my marching feet.

Fate may test me, with all it’s might
But I won’t die, without a fight.
Tonight, I step out to make things right
In darkness, I’ll find my inner light.

The ruthless road makes me stumble
In pain sometimes I fall & crumble.
But in agony I’m still humble
Focused on destination, my spirit doesn’t fumble.

The wintry winds howl in my face
My feet begin to ache.
The road challenges me in it’s own way
But I walk, I won’t be swayed.

Pushing forward in the pain’s embrace
I’ll show the road, of what I’m made.
Breaking my limits, a legacy I’ll create
I’ll show the road, of what I’m made.
Walking on my bleeding feet
I walk, for the journey isn’t complete.
In this journey, many milestones I achieved
Won’t stop, for the journey isn’t complete.

Note:- In the journey of life we all walk alone. Be it to professionally grow, overcome an emotional stigma or to conquer a personal objective life presents us with many challenge & sometimes when things don’t go the way we planned, we sometimes doubt the path we are on. It is at this moment, where we must seek the courage from within to believe in our true capability, step on every stone of misery that comes in our way & forge forward towards our goal in life. After all every great journey begins with a single step & some of the toughest journeys lead to some of the most beautiful destinations.

Bald & Beautiful

Chemicals dribble in my veins
With a smile I withstand the pain.
As I lay in this cancer cubical
I tell myself, “I’m bald, I’m beautiful”.

The doctor says I have a tumor
But I won’t cry like a loser.
Cancer won’t bring me to my knees
For I’m not meant to cry helplessly.

This disease won’t conquer me
Everyday with this disease, I bravely breathe.
Everyday I celebrate my life’s victory
Cancer can’t destroy me or my legacy.

Even in those depressing nights
In the grim grip of darkness, I will fight.
The darkness won’t extinguish, my inner light
Blissfully bright, like a phoenix I will rise.

Cancer can’t corrupt  love, it’s incorruptible
Cancer can’t break bonds, they’re unbreakable.
Cancer can’t destroy hope, it’s indestructible
& I’m invincible, I’m bald, I’m beautiful.

Note: I lost my dad to cancer, but I vividly recall that even when my dad was down with cancer himself, he still used to motivate other patients not to give up their fight against cancer.Today being World Cancer Day I hope this poem ignites hope in the heart of anyone whose life has been affected by  cancer in anyway. Please do not quit your battle against cancer. We all our bigger than this disease, it can’t infect our bonds, memories & legacy.

Magnificent Mum

Holding my hand, you taught me to walk
Like a friend, with you I talk.
Expressing your greatness, I run out of words to say
But mum, you are magnificent in your own way.
When confronting my demons, I don’t have a clue
Emotionally, when I’m battered black and blue.
Like a lost puppy, here and there, I follow you
Amidst my darkness, I always look up to you.

In my darkness, you’re my shining light
Motivating me, you say everything’s gonna be alright.
You guide me where I’m wrong, where I’m right
You’re an absolute delight,  you inspire me in my fight.

In you, I see a reflection of me
Flawless like you, I hope to be.
You are a symbol of love & grace
May your lovely smile, never desert your face.

I always thank you, in my prayers
& if you ever feel victimized by despair
I want you to know, that I’m always there
Together, we’ll sail through the dark nightmare.

I love you, to you may I not say
But having you around, I’m thankful everyday.
Expressing your greatness, I run out of words to say
But mum you are magnificent in your own way.

Note: This poem is inspired by the emotions of a friend of mine towards her mother. Hearing the kind of love she possessed towards her mother, made me realize the true value of a mother in a child’s life. So this poem is dedicated to each & every mother across the globe, saluting their unconditional love, selfless sacrifices & never-ending support towards their children.

My Disability… My Sin ?

Handicapped… behind closed doors
The world, made me feel insecure.
My disability…. made me wonder
What was my sin, what was my blunder?

Perfectly incomplete I was in myself
But you came! my priceless wealth.
Independent, handicapped, I was on my own
But for you, I tried to mold.

Limping, I go down the memory lane
Recalling old times, how my life has changed.
In life’s desert, you were my rain
Now your absence, makes me handicapped again.

Pushing my wheelchair, you had held my hand
On my feet, you made me stand!
In my darkness, you were my light
But you began seeing me as your parasite.

Broken dreams… imagine what we could be
But you changed! you saw me differently.
Your love for me was replaced by hate
As you called our bond a horrible mistake.

How could it be a mistake ?
The belief, that rose me beyond my fate
How could it be a mistake ?
My eyes still yearn seeing your face

All I aspired for was your affection
In you my love I’d seen God’s reflection
The turning of your back, makes me question
Was it my imperfection that caused our separation?

In hope sometimes I wonder
Will you realize?  My disability, isn’t my blunder
For your return I open my house’s door
Now only your absence, makes me insecure.

Note:- Few days back I got to know that a girl broke her bond with my friend only due to the fact that he was “physically challenged”. It made me think why has love been reduced to certain  physical stereotypes ? I mean 6 pack abs doesn’t certify the fact that person is a good lover. Love is about not just getting intoxicated by the mesmerizing features of your loved ones, sometimes I feel love means embracing their imperfections with a smile as well. This is poem is for all those who have had their hearts broken due to their “imperfections”. Everyone is amazing in their own unique way & if at all someone looks down on you due to your imperfection/ disability then you need to realize that they themselves are blind to the greatness that resides within you!

A New Beginning

Amidst her darkness, amidst her fears
A woman walks, wiping her tears.
I see a woman, walk through the dark
Forging forward, with hope in her heart.

Her enemy was the entire world
She used to silently scream, without a word.
But, no warrior is mightier than this girl
For even in darkness, she’s a shining pearl.

On a new journey, the angel embarks
Tonight, all her demons, she’ll tear apart.
I see a woman, walk through the dark
Forging forward, with purpose in her heart.

On thorns, she walked a thousand miles
Hiding her pain, behind fake smiles.
For others’ happiness, she didn’t compromise
But her dreams… she sacrificed.

Enough she has sacrificed! Enough she has compromised!
Tonight she’ll smile! Tonight she’ll rise!
I see a woman, overcoming the dark
smiling, with purity pouring from her heart.

Note: Females have been an integral part of my support system in the past few years, they are like ever-flowing rivers of unconditional love. In my dark days, like angels they were my light. Whenever I faced any problems in life, some female in someway (as a friend, mentor or family) was always there to support me with her selfless , caring &  understanding nature. I am aware of  the emotional, personal & social  battles they themselves are engaged in; yet they never deserted me in my darkness. So this ones for my angels who supported me! Although words fail to express the magnitude of my gratitude but, I hope this poem touches your lives, the way you have touched mine.
